Welcome to my blog. Since I often have questions from my clients about how to cook healthy, easy meals, I decided to share some of my successful recipes with you here. I look forward to specific requests from those of you with dietary restrictions - such as gluten intolerance, sugar imbalances and allergies. 

As a Clincal Nutritionist I see our food choices as powerful medicine. Our food is that most powerful medicine available to prevent and heal chronic disease.  Not only does food supply calories for energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals for our bodies, but it provides phytonutrients that are special molecules that interact with your biology, special molecules that act like switches on your DNA to heal your body. 

In Chinese Medicine there is no distinction between food and medicine. The notion that food is anything other than calories for energy and sustaing life is foreign to most Westerners. 
In fact, many of the ingredients in Chinese food are purposeful as well as flavorful.  Plants use colors as their protective mechanisms. Those colors are the sources of the phytonutrients which act like medicine in our bodies. We use their defense mechnanisms to help our bodies function better- these are the anti-inflammatory, detoxifying, anti-oxidant and hormone-balancing compounds that we should eat EVERY DAY to prevent disease and create optimal health or BALANCED VITALITY!

Over the next month I will be writing about seasonal healing foods and recipes that contain these foods. Please try them ~ and if you like them, post comments or suggestions. I look forward to sharing these wonderful attributes of fruits, vegetables, spices and herbs with you.
